The Guild’s program of Quilting Bees allows members to work together on charity projects, to learn from other members and make new friends. The list on this page provides information on open bees (accepting new members). For additional information, please Contact Us.
The County Quilters Bee meets on the first and third Thursday of the month at 11:30 am to 2:30 pm at the Myrtle Grove Library. Soon they will meet at the new Pine Valley branch of the Library. They make quilts for domestic violence victims as well as work on their own projects. They would love to have some new members.
Gone to Pieces Bee. Open to new members – we meet at Bitty & Beau’s on New Center Drive on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday from 11:00 to 12:30 and go to lunch after.
The Handmade with Love Bee meets on the First Monday of each month (also at Coastal Sewing) from 1 to 4 p.m. In September it will be the second Monday (due to Labor Day) at noon. This bee recently delivered 31 quilts to the Sister Isaac Center at St. Mary’s. Pictured is a little girl who chose the ballerinas for her own! Come join us. Bring your sewing machine, everything else is provided!
The Jacksonville Bee meets on the first Monday of the month at 6 pm at All About Quilting. Bee members are currently working on different projects; everyone on her own and just enjoying each other. The shop offers kits, supplies, planned classes, pop up classes and one-on-one help with completing projects. All About Quilting is the shop for eastern North Carolina to give our veterans a warm quilt to call their own and show them that people care for the time that they have given to make us all be able to live in the Land of the Free! Additional information on Quilts of Valor can be found under Community Outreach here.
The Leland Bee meets the first and third Friday of the month from 9 until 12 noon in the Leland Senior Center, 121 Town Hall Drive NE. They are an open group and welcome anyone who wants to join them in quilting. Members either bring sewing machines or work on hand projects and share their love of the craft and friendship.
The Sweet Charity Bee meets at Coastal Sewing on Kerr Avenue on the 4th Tuesday of each month at 1 p.m. They recently gave 40 quilts away, to the University Police and the Domestic Violence Shelter. They are also working on “cot” quilts–long and narrow for the Good Shepard Shelter. They are hoping to get at least a dozen quilts completed before the weather turns cold.
